Thank you for visiting Animek Models.
Here you will find all kinds of work related to small-scale models, from trains to outer space vehicles.
You will also see some of my “very old” balsa wood models, along with a few modeling techniques, ranging from Star Wars-inspired
builds to railroad structures, as well as miniature ships and small aircraft. These projects reflect both my early hobbies from my
teenage years and the ones I have developed more recently.
Some of my oldest models were built in the early 80's, while others are more recent. For the older ones, please bear with me if the
accuracy is not always close to the real thing. At that time, the only references available to me were a few movie magazines and what I
could remember from the big screen.
All the models here are made of wood, balsa, maple, and pine. More recently, I have also been using a material called Polybak, also
known as Laserboard, which is a resin-impregnated cardboard. I have always preferred wood over other materials, as it is readily
available and easy to shape. Even today, I still favor it over styrene, and I continue to work toward more accurate and refined results
while keeping wood as my primary medium.
This site is never finished. I update it whenever I have time, so please enjoy it as it is. Feel free to send a message using the feedback
button in the top menu if you have any suggestions or comments.
To conclude, I have recently received a few questions about the name “Animek Models” and its meaning. It comes from “Ani” for
animation or movies and “Mek” for mechanical devices—reversed to suggest “mechanical animation” (or animation mécanique in
French). It also reflects my earlier work in 3D animation using Autodesk 3D Studio in the 90's.
So please enjoy the site.
